I began speaking with Steve, who has been living in Nashville for a few years. His girlfriend Mady later joined him here, and together they’ve been building a great life in the city. Steve decided the time was right to ask Mady if she would become his future Mrs.
I should point out that Steve is incredibly detail-oriented. From carefully selecting the ring, to planning the day’s events, to coordinating family members to arrive and celebrate the milestone afterward (all unbeknownst to Mady), he thoughtfully planned every aspect of the moment.
Steve wanted the location and setting to be exactly right for the proposal. That level of thoughtfulness is something I always appreciate when working with clients. Part of my role as a proposal photographer is helping calm nerves and reassuring my clients that everything on my end is handled. I’m also happy to help with logistics and recommend locations that suit the couple once I get a sense of who they are together.
For Steve and Mady, a more secluded setting might normally have fit their personalities best. However, because of family commitments and others visiting that day, the downtown area and the pedestrian bridge ultimately made the most sense. It also helped the outing feel natural and less suspicious to Mady.
Despite a few weather concerns and adjusting the shoot time by several hours, everything ultimately came together beautifully. When the relationship is right, the moment—and the place where it happens—naturally becomes special.
Congratulations, Steve and Mady!
