To say David and I plotted this one well together would be an understatement. Heather is from North Carolina. David is from Arizona. They originally met here, more on that later, but this is where they reconvened for a long weekend getaway. David planned on taking Heather to Arrington Vineyards for a nice Autumn afternoon wine tasting and romantic picnic. Or so Heather thought. I was waiting, unbeknownst to her, to photograph a very creative and romantic marriage proposal at the Vineyard. First, some journalism to warm up while waiting for the couple.
It was not an easy place to conceal myself with the area being large and open, but I did find a tree to mask myself. She had no idea, so it was a successful mission and it was a resounding yes! Bystanders even participated in David and Heather’s joy and excitement by cheering them on, it was nice.
They were excited to share the news with close family and friends, so I documented the moments of unmistakable joy while they take in what happened. I can’t describe the outpouring of emotion that took over the whole environment.
David was in town for work at the same time Heather was here in Nashville celebrating her birthday with her cousin. Both happened to be at the legendary Tootsie’s Bar on Broadway, and clicked right away as they met and talked, danced, and drank into the wee hours. With the long distance factor, both David and Heather were a bit apprehensive.
However, they worked out a plan to visit often, after it was left to fate for them to be in contact once life as usual settled in. I’d say the dedication to follow their hearts and not let go of something real, despite distance, paid off. Love always wins. Congratulations David and Heather! What a fabulous afternoon and romantic marriage proposal.
