The Fuji X100F has quickly become my go to camera and overall favorite to use and take with me! I have pretty much conditioned myself to use the 35mm focal length for most of my photography (23mm with crop factor) so it works perfectly. With the same sensor and auto focus system as the XT-2 and Xpro-2 in a smaller package! A rep with Fujifilm USA let me use the Fuji X100F wide angle converter on loan, all I needed to do was to write about my experience with it!
With 0.8% magnification, that changes the focal length from 35mm to 28mm, and from 23mm to 19mm with crop factor. Which is a noticeable difference when in tight quarters. Particularly with dancing at wedding receptions where I am used to working close. This gets me in close proximity to feel what is going on and properly documenting it. Also this reduces the chance of people getting in the foreground of the frame, because I’m right there but moving so I’m not in the way of the action. Perfect focal length with this wide angle converter!!
Is there any difference in image quality or does it slow down the auto focus speed?
No, to both questions. It performs on par with my XT-2, but even with the slight addition to the X100 F, it’s a secret weapon because of it’s tiny size. Same sensor, same image and same AF speed. Nothing is noticeable as far as any quality or performance difference, so I am saying no to that question.
For future weddings, the dances will witness me using my X100 F with Fuji X100F wide angle converter. Every advantage going in, except the dual card slots. Perfect size, perfect focal length, it makes a great weapon of choice! After photographing a wedding reception mostly with it, and going into several more, I can honestly say I highly recommend this little gem. I have my own now. I couldn’t get the Fuji rep to part with hers just because they love me 🙂
How does the Fuji X100F wide angle converter work? Unscrew the lens filter cover and screw it on over the existing fixed 23mm lens. Done. I tam told that earlier model wide converters work on the X100 F as well.
