While in Dublin, I broke up the trip by visiting Bristol, England to visit a documentary wedding photographer colleague, Kevin Mullins. With a marketing background and being one of the pioneers of photographing weddings with the Fuji mirrorless camera system, my interest was sparked. Kevin gives workshops on not only the Fuji system, but how to effectively carry out a journalistic wedding photography approach. Also, effective marketing of a wedding photographer’s unique style. So, I did a one day workshop with him. I had some Fuji related questions as we worked through it, such as continuous focus and electronic shutter. We went around for a bit and did some street photography on the Bristol England streets. Loved it there!
Playing with spot metering a little. Kevin was telling me that he slowly approaches people but usually waits for the moment to come to him, a great reminder for street and wedding photography. This was a special treat doing street photography with him. We walked through open air marketplaces, I wished I had a place to keep fresh seafood and produce they were selling haha. We decided to break for lunch and a pint at The Drawbridge for some KILLER fish and chips and garden peas. We spent the rest of the time talking marketing and business, and it was because of that I felt so inspired and had clear direction to market my unique style more effectively.
