I recently had the great pleasure of photographing the beautiful Oaklands Historic House Murfreesboro Wedding of Jose and Shelby at Murfreesboro’s Oaklands Historic House Museum and venue ! Great historical venue for Murfreesboro wedding photography with the historic architecture and lush green park grounds that were once used as a plantation. In my last article I dedicated it to the venue and some photos of it, as well as a brief summary of it’s history in the civil war era. This is all about the couple and demonstrating the love between them, as well as the love that surrounds them :D! This couple was kindly referred to be by a local travel agent friend, where the bride’s mom works as well! Jose and Shelby wanted a nice elegant wedding but wanted a fun and relaxed mood, it was my job to document their story as well as the fun and love the filled their day. Their mission succeeded, we did just that! We started out at a local hotel where Shelby and her sister, and close friends who were maid of honor and bridesmaids would get ready, and do makeup and hair. Often some of the sweetest and fun candid moments of the day I think!
Just look at that elaborate hair style!
Next my assistant and I went off to the venue, where we would get off camera lighting and flashes set up, and start by photographing location details. Then await the arrival of the groom and the groom party to do some fun portraits before the ceremony. This is important to do for both respective parties, because it lessens the wait time for guests at the reception, for the arrival of the couple. 🙂 Here, a little fun with Jose and his entourage!
The groom’s party is tucked away, the bride has arrived! I was looking forward to photographing them together but wasn’t time just yet! Thankfully we had use of the outside of the mansion which made a nice canvas for the wedding party and family portraits!
Now Shelby anxiously awaits the call for the start of the ceremony! We are down to the wire here, in mere moments from now she and Jose would be husband and wife! As a wedding photographer, I feed of the energy and anticipation of that moment as well!
It’s now time for the ceremony! The anticipation is over! Here comes the bride with her hair and makeup all nicely did 😀 And the groom looking all dapper!
You may now kiss the bride! Congratulations Jose and Shelby! You’re now married! I must point out that these are some of my favorite ceremony photos in my wedding photography career. Both Shelby and Jose got tongue tied when exchanging vows, and it created an element of fun and relaxed mood. The officiant is a good friend and well respected colleague, Stephen Seymour with Unforgettable Ceremonies, he really helped keep the fun alive and get the couple back on track in a fun and light way. Here is the website of the best wedding officiant in Nashville 🙂 Now it’s time to photograph the new bride and groom with my intimate and journalistic style!
On our way back to the reception, I saw the kids hanging out and they were having so much fun, so I took some time to capture them, they enjoyed the attention and I enjoyed capturing their energy!
The reception, cake cutting and smoosh and Shelby dancing with her Dad!
At last, the first dance of the couple! Thanks so much and congratulations Jose and Shelby! I look forward to doing future family portraits with you!
