This was my first Same sex wedding, captured in downtown Nashville! Eli and Joshua’s wedding was quite a lively and beautiful celebration and full of lovely people! Indeed a fantastic and humbling opportunity, not just for us, but for all the wedding pros who look forward to supporting the LGBT community.
We first spoke in the summer. They were looking for a journalistic documentary style wedding photographer to capture their event in it’s natural form. The more we talked, the the more we realized we were all a great fit. Not only could I offer them the photographic style they were looking for but I had a variety of albums to compliment their pictures and tell their story. It was the photographer package they dreamed of. Eli and Joshua wanted me to capture their love and their happiness, as well as their guests having a great time. Done deal, that’s how Jay Farrell Photography rolls 😀
First, I got to know them and what they wanted to create and capture during their wedding day. They live in the Northeast and work in the medical profession, but had met here in Nashville, where they attended school. They had established roots here, and made friends here, two reasons to pick Nashville as the setting to celebrate their commitment. I was happy to hear that they received a warm welcome from their venue and their other vendors. The wedding was at One Eleven, downtown Nashville, above Big River. Their information on the web is here. One Eleven downtown Nashville rooftop venue. The ceremony was to be outdoors on the rooftop and the reception and dancing inside. I have always loved downtown Nashville with it’s distinctive personality so we started with a familiar classic. The Hard Rock Cafe Nashville, right across the street, gave us the backdrop for some great street shots with an urban Nashville vibe.
I met the couple and their families arriving, time to start some pre ceremony photos and get ready for the ceremony on the rooftop. The thumbprint guest book added an original and creative touch!
We are getting ready for the ceremony, but first want to capture some of the delicious edibles, catered by Chef’s Market. http://www.chefsmarket.com/
Ok, ceremony time on the rooftop, and a few candids while waiting on the arrival of the couple! Starting with the rooftop view of downtown Nashville.
Congratulations, you’re married! It’s time now for some portraits with their families and them together as a newly married couple!
Rocking reception, Nashville style! Everyone loved the energy and everyone (including my assistant and I, had a ball!) I will add that DJ Dan and company kept the party rocking with some great tunes! Their website DJ Dan company Nashville disc jockey . Thank you Joshua and Eli for making us part of your wedding! I can’t wait to put your coffee table book together!
