I’m loving this Bowling Green KY Fall wedding photography showcasing Andrew and Angie’s lovely Fall outdoor wedding on the lake. It was so exciting to see this day finally come for Angie and Andrew! I had been talking with the couple about their wedding for the past year almost, and this past Spring had the pleasure of doing their engagement photos here in Nashville! The couple had met, and started dating 3 years ago, and live in Bowling Green KY. Both Angie and Andrew are passionate about art, photography and design, so it’s been fun getting to know them well and spend time with them! Their good kind souls and whimsical aspects of their relationship truly are inspiring, and will be the core of their marriage strength I am sure!
They wanted a down to earth but elegant outdoor venue to showcase some Fall colors, and give them the party they wanted. Barren River State Park in Lucas, KY. between Scottsville and Bowling Green has it all. Rustic cabins, restaurant, camping, golf course, and it’s right on the beautiful Barren River Lake. This was their venue of choice, great pick! The couple each had a villa to get ready with their respective bridal and groom parties.
It was a chilly and wet day, but the couple and their guests knew it was what they did with the day that mattered, and the show would go on….the event and picnic shelter would be used for the wedding ceremony instead of the field area due to rain. We left the villas and onto the ceremony area by the gold course.
One decision that Angie and Andrew were very wise to make, was to have an unplugged ceremony, meaning guests are asked to refrain from cell phone and recording device / camera use at their wedding. That’s right! One thing missing from the wedding….everyone’s butt and arms blocking the photos! And guests were truly present for the couple, beautiful thing 🙂
The significant meaning for the Chicago sign, Angie and Andrew like going to Chicago, and that is where Andrew proposed to Angie on their first trip there together! As you can see from the rain droplets on the sign, the weather did not cooperate like we had hoped….but it was still a beautiful Bowling Green Ky Fall wedding, with some Fall colors! This Fall has not been as colorful as years past, but it’s all good. Next, the wedding cake was up for a photo op, before everyone went to town on it later, LOL. Wedding cake by Sweet Temptations Bakery in Bowling Green.
And heeeeeeere’s Angie! With her dad in tow 🙂
The flower girl was like ” Meh! Not so much” Haha!
The moment the couple had waited for! Proud to present to you Mr. and Mrs. Shaneyfelt!
I love these candid moments full of raw and natural emotion….it always feels organic to capture moods like this that can’t be staged, as a journalistic wedding photographer.
Angie with her little brother, his expression was priceless!
We headed down to the marina with Angie and Andrew during cocktail hour while we got a break from the rain.
Reception time!! This is the 6th wedding I’ve photographed with the Fuji XT-1 mirrorless system and prime lenses….love the colors and the sharpness of the glass. You’ll see in some I used shallow depth of field and went for a natural light feel. A great time was had by all at this reception, entertainment in the form of DJ and music was provided by Nashville DJ, Tim Mindub Hiber. He knows how to throw a rocking party and be the pilot of the event!
I don’t think the groomsmen feel confident that they’ll see Andrew again now that he’s married 😀
Upon the couple making their exit, we followed our original plan to walk down the long hill (and back up, LOL) to get some photos of the newly married couple by the lake, on the other side of the resort. At sunset. Well….sunset didn’t happen that day, that would have actually required sun, haha! But it was still a beautiful view and beautiful photos of a very happy and grateful couple.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the photos and narrative from this lovely Bowling Green wedding at Barren River State Park! I’m Nashville based, but if you or anyone you know likes my journalistic / documentary wedding photography style, I am always happy to serve the Bowling Green area and other parts of Kentucky. Congratulations Andrew and Angie, you have a brilliant future and marriage ahead, I have no doubt 🙂
